XXIV Affinity Foundation Study on the abandonment of companion animals

For a fifth year, DEP Institut participates in the carrying out of this report

This 2013, the XXIV Affinity Foundation Study on the abandonment of companion animals is being carried out, which will be held for the fifth year with the technical support of the DEP Institut. Currently, data is being compiled on the number of dogs and cats abandoned or lost in Spain throughout the 2012 year.

In order to obtain these numbers, throughout the months of April and May, DEP Institue will make contact with over 700 municipalities for over 10,000 inhabitants, and over 300 animal shelters. Additionally, an attempt will also be made with the data collection to capture information relating to the state of the animals found, so as to get to know the reasons behind their abandonment and adoptions.

Additionally, DEP Institut will be responsible for the calculations and analyses of the data in order to develop, together with Affinity Foundation, a study of the year. As with previous additions, the local governments as well as the shelters will be able to answer the on-line questionnaire through this link
