The Catalonia housing sector territorial plan receives the Research award in the XI Spanish Biennal of Architecture and Urbanism 2011

DEP Institut has collaborated on this project with the analysis of poor housing in Catalonia

The housing sector territorial Plan of Catalonia, with the collaboration of DEP by the Ministry of Housing, Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya, won the Research Award in the XI Biennial Spanish of Architecture and Urbanism 2011. This award was organized by the Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Development, the Superior Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain, the Menendez Pelayo International University, the University of Alcalá and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.

DEP Institut’s work within the Territorial Housing Plan was the study of characteristics and quantification of poor housing situations in Catalonia, based on information provided by municipal and county social services in 2009, and according to the European ETHOS typology of homelessness.

The Regional Housing Plan, responds to the housing needs and actions to be undertaken during the period 2007-2016, which were established in the National Pact signed by all social and economic agents, which frames the housing policies of the Generalitat de Catalunya. In this Plan the social needs of residence for specific groups (young people, older people, people at risk of exclusion and poorly housed population) are evaluated and actions are planned to meet these needs: with new housing, with mobilization of empty houese to facilitate access to housing or not losing it. Similarly, the objectives of the rehabilitation of buildings and homes with environmental improvement and accessibility purposes are quantified.
