DEP Institut conducts de 2013 biannual Barometer of Barcelona

The first of the two annual waves of this study, promoted by the City Council of Barcelona, has taken place between 11 and June 17 and consisted of 800 telephone interviews to a representative sample of the population of Barcelona.

The Barometer results showed that the City Council of Barcelona is the best valued administration by the citizens (68.7%) compared to the Catalan Government (51.1%) and the Spanish Government (17.9% ). However, it has to be noted that 65.6% of those interviewed believe that the economic situation in Barcelona is bad or very bad (85.6% when referring to Catalonia and 94% in relation to the Spanish State) .

In this sense, in terms of the biggest problems of the city, one in three states aspects related to unemployment and working conditions (33.8%).

Regarding the assessment of the events held in the city, nine out of ten Barcelona residents consider as very or fairly positive that Barcelona is a home for cultural, economic and sporting events, while considering the economic benefits they represent, especially in the economy of the city.

Finally, the political bloc of the Barometer, highlights that the Mayor Xavier Trias (with 90.9% of notoriety) is the only municipal leader approving (5.1) and, in direct intention to vote, CiU heads the results with a 18%, three percentage points higher than the results of the municipal elections of 2011, while ERC is still in  the second place obtained in the previous barometer of December with 10% of voting intentions (2.9% the results of the municipal).
